Along its coastline, Costa Brava usually enjoys bright, sunny and mild weather all year long. Such an ideal temperature is the result of it being protected by the Pyrenees Mountains in the north and the warm Mediterranean in the east. The region has a warm jet stream that helps regulate the cold during the harsh winter times. On the other hand, at the peak of summer, its temperatures are warm but then the heat is eased by the cool breezes from the sea.
Costa Brava’s climate is typically Mediterranean. Statistics show that virtually every day is sunny and bright, although as we well know, the weather is unpredictable and can be subject to change at any time. The region however has influences of wet winds from the south and cold winds from the north, particularly the Tramontana. These winds can reach speeds of up to 120 km an hour.
The average temperature is 16°C and though the region is generally bright and sunny, there is ample rainfall, around 600 - 700 mm which falls mainly during winter.
